Crisis in Mental Health Policy: Treatment vs. Incarceration

On Tuesday, June 27, The Kennedy Forum Illinois (KFI) took part in an important City Club of Chicago panel discussion, “Crisis in Mental Health Policy: Treatment v. Incarceration.” Speakers included KFI Executive Director Kelly O'Brien along with Dr. Nneka Jones Tapia, Executive Director, Cook County Department of Corrections and Karen Teitelbaum, President/Chief Executive Officer, Sinai Health System. It was an opportunity to emphasize the need for state leaders to collaborate for coordinated response and creation of resources that get people into treatment, not jail.
